About

The UCD School of Music and the UCD School of English are teaming up to deliver a new, inter-disciplinary Level 2 module called Techniques of Songwriting. This new initiative from Creative Futures Academy will be delivered in weekly classes over 12 weeks, and is open to all students from UCD, NCAD and IADT. We are delighted to invite students to audit the module free of charge, meaning that credits do not apply.

There is a career-oriented focus to this module, so students will study a wide range of writing techniques which can be applied to a variety of creative environments and industries, from music, film, TV and drama, to working locally on collaborative projects, with community groups, or in education settings, and so on.

Following these lectures, students will be asked to write their own original song, utilising the techniques covered in class. Later in the semester, we will be inviting special guest artists and industry insiders to come and meet the students, hear their songs, and offer their professional feedback and advice.

More information

Classes will take place on Fridays at 12-2pm from 27 January to 28 April 2023.
We are delighted to invite students from UCD, IADT and NCAD to audit the module free of charge, however this does mean that they will not receive the ECT credits, or any accreditation, for participating.

Deadline: 20th January 2023.
