CFA is excited to announce our launch programme of music, performances, talks, visual arts, design, workshops and more to excite and inspire taking place between 16th – 18th November!
Join CFA for a jam-packed, 3-day programme of events to celebrate its official launch.
Our multidisciplinary programme of live events, talks and performances will animate the three campuses of UCD, IADT and NCAD, over three days to mark CFA’s future ambitions for flexible, creative learning.
To kickstart all the celebrations, join us for the opening launch event on Wednesday 16th November in O’Reilly Hall, University College Dublin, Belfield, Dublin 4. Spark your curiosity, and learn what CFA has to offer – no matter where you are in your creative journey.

This inaugural programme will ask the question ‘How might we design a circular textiles industry in Ireland?’ A dynamic, action-oriented programme of talks, panels, showcases and collaborative industry workshops will highlight the urgent need and unique opportunity we have to create a just, circular textiles industry in Ireland – and the critical role that design plays in enabling that transition.
The festival is designed in two parts; to ideate and to activate.

18th November, 9.30am – 11am, NCAD Gallery
Over coffee & pastries, the Circular by Design team and pilot cohort will highlight the urgent need and unique opportunity we have to create a just, circular textiles industry in Ireland – and the critical role that design and education play in enabling that transition. A talk, panel discussion and showcase of the pilot brands’ pioneering circular solutions will introduce you to the outcomes of the Circular by Design programme so far, as well its future plans to scale and evolve its impact.

Join Irish horror-fiction author Maura McHugh for a one-day practical workshop on working with teams to shape stories about climate crisis.

18th – 19th November, IADT
CFA, in collaboration with the Media Cube at IADT, invites students from IADT, NCAD and UCD to take part in a 24-Hour Design Challenge on the 18th – 19th November 2022 in IADT.
Racing against the clock, you will complete a series of Design Thinking games and tasks, concluding with a presentation of your final ideas. Oh, and the best part? The winning team will receive a grand prize of €1,000.

Drop by and see some of our fantastical creatures, created as part of our Design for Technical Arts Workshop which ran in Spiddal between May and June 2022. The ten impressive, life-size character busts will be on display in IADT for all to see, showcasing the talent of our students and staff. The busts will be on display from 10am-5pm on Friday 18th and from 10am-4pm on Saturday 19th, which is IADT’s Open Day.

18th November, Harry Clarke Theatre, NCAD
This talk and panel discussion, co-hosted by CFA, IDI and DesignOpp will discuss how the design sector can collectively foster a culture of inclusion that welcomes difference, promotes agency and facilitates shared community building. The talk will begin at 6pm on Friday 18th November.

This 2 hour workshop will introduce participants to Product Design and allow them to create an object using 3D printing and laser cutting.
Note: This workshop is available for students attending 2nd level Deis Schools.
