Victoria Durrer is a Research Fellow in Cultural Policy in the School of Art History and Cultural Policy. Her work focuses on how the spatial and relational dynamics of administration and policy both shape and are challenged by artistic practice as social, cultural, and professional endeavours.

Victoria values interdisciplinary perspectives, with her teaching and research informed by approaches in arts, admin and policy practice as well as social sciences and history.

She is committed to engaged research, having co-developed a number of projects and research networks with policy makers and sector professionals. Her research has received support from the Higher Education Authority, the Irish Research Council, the Royal Society of Edinburgh (UK), and the Arts and Humanities Research Council (UK). She is co-founder of the all-island research network, Cultural Policy Observatory Ireland.

Previous to joining UCD Dr Durrer served as Youth Arts Co-ordinator for South Dublin County Council, and worked in community / arts management in Britain, the U.S., and China. She joined UCD from Queen’s University Belfast where she served as Senior Lecturer in Arts Management and Cultural Policy.

Victoria teaches cultural policy with a mind to encouraging students to expressing their cultural voices more loudly. She is a dedicated member of CFA, looking for new ways to foster relationships between staff, students and sector professionals.
